Visible Leaders is a boutique consultancy, based in London, and operating globally. The business was founded by Colin Hatfield, who has over twenty years of communications and consulting experience.
We employ a global team of experienced staff, augmented by a network of senior collaborators, all well-versed in our approach and methodology.
We strongly believe that, when working with leaders tackling communications issues, more than a communications mind is required. This is why all our senior consultants blend a track-record in communications alongside experience of working in close proximity to leadership teams.
Our senior people come in many different flavours. Some have traditional communications agency backgrounds. But, working with us, you might also meet a barrister, a coach, a film director, a corporate communications expert, a speech-writer or an HR expert.
Colin specialises in helping leaders to develop their leadership narrative - the story that helps to position them within their organisation and bring to life their leadership agenda. Once the narrative is clear, he works with leaders to hone their communication skills to ensure they come across with impact and commitment. One area of particular interest is in helping companies develop the communication skills of the wider leadership. Over recent years, he has designed and delivered a huge number of group coaching programmes where executives can learn the core principles of leadership communication and improve their abilities to deliver compelling content.
Susan has over 20 years experience coaching and partnering with senior leaders and their teams, helping them cultivate leadership talent, build cohesive teams, set strategic direction, and navigate change. She combines her perceptive ability to connect with and relate to people with her keen diagnostic skills. Her work with PepsiCo culminated with the publication of her case study, “Performance Beyond Belief” which examined the largest ever reorganisation in Pizza Hut’s history. The two-part case has been used at Darden, Fuqua and Kellogg business schools in Operations and Organisational Behaviour Courses.
Susan earned an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia’s Darden Business School and a B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary.
Molly specialises in working with corporate leaders and organisations to identify, explore and resolve their strategic communication challenges. She offers intensive individual presentation coaching to ensure messages are delivered with maximum impact to the target audience and minimum pain for the messenger concerned. Molly has substantial experience as a journalist and has been a foreign correspondent, leader writer, news reporter and columnist for a range of publications including The Daily Mail, Evening Standard, Vogue and The Spectator. Since joining Visible Leaders, Molly has delivered a number of communications workshops, developed leadership narrative communication strategy and coached leaders individually.
Brian joined Visible Leaders in 2015 and is a dynamic, creative and commercial business leader with expertise in advising management boards and senior executives in strategy and tactical execution. He has extensive experience in B2B sales and marketing across the communications, creative and technology industries.

Caroline has over 20 years of experience managing international accounts for communications agencies. She has a direct and positive leadership style that is helping Visible Leaders to grow and flourish.
Martin Newman has 25 years' experience in working internationally to help leaders stand up and be counted. His main focus is on helping leaders develop their strategic narrative and their personal impact. He coaches CEO, C-Suite and high potential individuals at a number of FTSE 100 and 250 firms, as well as private businesses. Clients include GKN, HSBC, Rio Tinto, Tate & Lyle, and Vodafone. He was Team Coach for two winning Olympic bids (Sochi 2014 and Tokyo 2020), and continues to advise the Tokyo 2020 team.
In 2008, Martin set up The Leadership Council to bring together some of the UK's most senior corporate and public leaders in a not-for-profit research and thought leadership body. He regularly publishes on leadership topics and currently has a best selling book out in Japan, ‘Personal Impact’. He lectures at business schools and universities in Europe and Asia.
Mark’s career began in broadcasting at the BBC, working as a producer of factual and light entertainment programmes. Subsequently, he worked in senior roles for a variety of London communications agencies, before co-founding a branding and experience agency with Colin Hatfield and Richard Zucker. After this business was sold to plc, Mark pursued a career as an independent brand and communications consultant. Today, he works closely with the team at Visible Leaders, focusing on projects where brand stories, corporate narrative and articulation of key messages are key.
Lucy has worked for Colin for 6 years since she graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in Business Management. She is responsible for coordinating projects and coaching programmes, operations and the client budget.
Tim has over 20 years of experience in journalism, public relations, integrated marketing and strategic business development. As an interim director and consultant, he works with companies – from early-stage companies to major global brands – offering strategic marketing and communications counsel. He also acts as mentor to London tech startups, specialising in business narrative, storytelling and presentation coaching.
Tim’s early career was as a print and broadcast journalist, working with organisations from the National Magazine Company to the BBC. After a move into marketing and communications, he went on to hold senior roles with leading FTSE 100, NASDAQ and NIKKEI companies.
Throughout his career, Tim has served as evangelist and spokesperson to international analyst and media communities. He has acted as a moderator, keynote speaker, and panellist at numerous events from Mobile World Congress to Unbound Digital. He has served as chairman, judge and advisor on boards of BAFTA, D&AD, the Game Developer Conference, and the mobile industry ‘Oscars’, the Meffys.

With over 20 years of experience spanning all aspects of corporate and leadership communications and cultural change, Dawn designs and delivers internal programmes which capture hearts as well as minds. She has an MBA with distinction, in addition to her first degree, and has worked across a wide variety of industries. Previous work and clients include 10 Downing Street, The Northern Ireland Office, HSE, BT, Mouchel, Direct Line Group, Marks and Spencer, BAE Systems, Visa, PDO and Siemens.
Richard helps clients to build and deliver outstanding brand and communications performance. Having trained in marketing at Ford Motor Company, Richard went on to help develop leading international communications agency, Imagination, taking responsibility for consultancy, creative and client services. After setting up and later selling his own brand and communications agency, Richard has spent the last ten years working closely with clients looking to build their leadership position. Client assignments range from strategic message mapping and narrative development, through to communications experience design. At the core of Richard’s skills is the focus on improving personal performance in the delivery of compelling communications.
Fiona is an experienced professional coach who supports individuals and teams to step up and fulfil their whole potential through an approach that combines self-reflection with impactful, courageous action. She facilitates deeper awareness and appreciation of team dynamics for working together creatively and generatively, resolving conflict and making a purposeful, positive impact.
A Fulbright scholar with a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from New York University and a background in both the UK and US corporate world, she is delighted to count world-leading organizations and brands among her clients, including Alexander McQueen, Google, Soho House and Sport UK. She is on the faculty of The School of Life and a regular facilitator with Guardian Masterclasses as well as a contributor to The Guardian, the Independent, CNN Money and Psychologies.
Pauline Hughes is a strategic communications consultant and executive coach. Who draws on 15 plus years of experience to help individuals and companies navigate through the maze of modern-day communications and find their voice, their story, and their audience. Previously Director of Communications at a children’s charity, and PR Director within central government, Pauline has coached CEOs, government ministers, celebrities and other high profile individuals to enhance their personal impact and make their mark.

Fiona is an experienced coach with a background in business, academia, psychology, coaching, psychoanalysis and communications. By the time she was 35 years old, she was coaching one of the most influential boards in the UK by market capitalisation - BP's Refining and Marketing board (circa £60bn at the time). Fiona's last in-house corporate role was Director of Communications and Change (VP level) for the majority of BP's Alternative Energy businesses, based out of San Francisco.
Fiona has worked with and for FTSE 100 companies for the last twenty years, predominantly in the communications and change arena. Her clients have included BP, Barclays, Shell, Exxon, Astra Zeneca, Unilever, Natwest/Royal Bank of Scotland, NCR. She has also worked with managers and senior leaders from organisations such as the UK Cabinet Office, Grosvenor Estates, Omnicom, Beazley Group and RADA.
Fiona studied her PhD in Multiculturalism and Literature at the University of Barcelona, Spain from 1993-1996. She also recently took a 16 month sabbatical, of which a year was spent in South America, and 7 months of this in Argentina. Having travelled and lived in Spanish speaking countries, she has a good working knowledge of the Spanish language.
Ester Vilajoana is a Certified Professional Coach and trainer that works primarily with senior executives and teams. Among others, her corporate clients are Bayer, Pepsico, Puig, Almirall, Codorniu, DeLonghi. Before discovering her true passion, coaching and training, Ester acquired 16 years of broad and varied experience in the business world. She has facilitated team coaching processes and delivered leadership trainings for them (with a special focus in leadership communication). She has created and produced an e-course for Leaders University about leadership. She is passionate about working with multicultural and multilingual teams, in different countries. Her mission is to have a positive and sustainable impact over time on each person and organisation she works with.
Susie brings over 25 years of commercial experience including 10 years within financial services in London and Hong Kong. She began her career as investment analyst with Colonial Mutual before moving into financial services executive search. On returning to the UK from Hong Kong she joined a communications consultancy where she worked with a number of senior executives on their pitch and presentation skills. She has been working as an impact coach for the last 14 years and works predominantly with leaders from professional services firms, public companies and financial institutions, coaching them on how to improve their impact, presentation and public speaking skills.
Melinda is a speech and language expert. She specialises in vocal performance, redefining old vocal patterns, softening accents and encouraging new fluency of expression which results in increased vocal impact and personal confidence.
She works extensively with senior foreign doctors within the Oxford Deanery and was previously Head of Speech and Drama at the London Academy of Media, Film and TV. She consults for the BBC and has trained the continuity announcers of BBC1 and BBC2. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Jocelyn Coutinho has over 20 years of experience in global strategic communications, combined with a BSc and an MBA in Marketing. During this time, she has been coaching senior executives in both internal and external communications in multiple industries including healthcare and finance. She has in-depth knowledge of the global landscape, with hands on experience in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Europe. As a result, she is able to analyse and provide proactive and actionable recommendations to senior leaders in both English in French.
Laura Mooney has 20+ years of experience in business strategy, marketing strategy and corporate and executive communications. In addition to coaching executives on both internal and external messaging and communications, Laura specialises in helping individual leaders and companies develop and deliver effective high-level messaging, corporate positioning and both inbound and outbound communications. Laura has a broad range of business knowledge across industries, enabling her to quickly assess communications challenges and coach leaders on effective responses.
Catherine specialises in enabling organisations to hear, understand, and act upon their leaders’ key messages. She coaches leaders to develop strategic communication plans that project their unique voices. As a dynamic organisational development consultant, she has a passion for enhancing leaders’ abilities to span cultural boundaries and engage global and virtual teams. Through her personal and outcome-driven focus, Catherine empowers strategic teams to articulate their aspirations and develop executable plans for continued growth. Catherine leverages her 20-year career working with international Fortune 500 companies in a wide range of industries including consumer, dental, biotech, pharmaceutical, investment banking, and non-profit.
Beth has 15 years experience in communications coaching. She has taught courses in crisis communications, impromptu speaking, presentation skills, persuasion for entrepreneurs, and the graphic display of data but her specialism is teaching executives how to lead change and helping them with their specific communication challenges. Prior to becoming a communications coach, Beth spent 10 years in management development, working with Fortune 50 companies undergoing major change initiatives. She has an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Tracy Penticuff is a Senior Leadership Consultant with more than 20 years of knowledge and experience in the field of corporate leadership development and executive coaching, either in a group setting or one on one. She specialises in helping her clients identify the gaps, strengths and objectives in their communication so that she can form a customised plan to help them optimise their personal and professional potential.
With her partnership, insight, solutions, and results, she is a long standing and trusted advisor to hundreds of coaching clients. She has global experience coaching at mid to senior levels across several industries and with non-profit organisations.
Her educational background is in Education and Psychology. She is an accredited professional coach through the Art and Science of Coaching Program at Erickson College International.
Patricia Lopez is a human resources and communications consultant with a 20-year global track record. Patricia’s work has brought her to most major metropolises in Asia Pacific, where she has delivered HR and learning solutions to MNCs, SMEs and Government organisations. Patricia’s guiding principle in providing solutions to her clients is her outcome-based approach to projects.
Her core capabilities are in designing and delivering HR talent management interventions, developing communication strategies in times of change, and designing and delivering powerful learning programs which address key organisational challenges.
Patricia earned her MSc in Industrial/Organisational Psychology for HR Management from the City University of New York, and Bachelors Degrees in Communications and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Rebecca is a facilitator and coach who works with clients to build professional presence, impactful messaging, and authentic leadership. Over the last 20 years she has worked in more than 45 countries, across industries and sectors and has substantial experience leading and managing teams. She therefore is able to quickly adapt learning and coaching to a client’s current context. Rebecca is known for her keen observation, deep listening skills and ability to get to the heart of the matter. When not doing ‘paid work' she volunteers with disadvantaged children at an NGO in Accra, (Ghana) leading classes in exam preparation for subjects such as Maths, English, Science, and Social Studies; basic life skills, coaching and leadership.
